EBP components & PICO

Evidence-based practice (EBP) integrates the best available evidence, clinical expertise, and patient preferences/values. Formulate clinical questions with PICO: Patient/population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome.

الممارسة القائمة على الأدلة (EBP) تدمج أفضل الأدلة المتاحة، والخبرة السريرية، وتفضيلات/قيم المريض. وصُغ الأسئلة السريرية بـPICO: Pالمريض/المجموعة، Iالتدخّل، Cالمقارنة، Oالنتيجة.

Levels of evidence

High-yield

The strongest evidence sits at the top of the hierarchy: systematic reviews and meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials are the highest level, followed by individual RCTs, then cohort and case-control studies, then expert opinion at the bottom. Prefer the highest-level evidence available.

A systematic review or meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials — this is the highest level of evidence. It synthesizes multiple high-quality studies and is stronger than a single RCT or expert opinion.
